Honolulu police are looking for an intruder who entered a dorm at the University of Hawaii Manoa campus on Friday morning and photographed a woman while she was taking a shower.

It is the second incident this week where an intruder entered a UH dorm.

At about 6 a.m. a man entered the women's bathroom on the third floor of the Kahawai Dormitory while a student in her 20s was taking a shower, police said.

"She saw some movement under the curtain, and she looked down and saw someone with a camera phone taking pictures," Capt. Robert Green said.

The woman screamed, waking several students, including Yoellah Yuhudah.

"I got my tool and ran down the hall because if someone is screaming I didn't want to be down the hall and vulnerable," Yuhudah said.

Students said they saw a man in a black T-shirt in a nearby courtyard pacing and looking nervous. That's when they followed him outside the dorm.

"We chased him out the building. He ran," Yuhudah said. "One of the guys was like, 'Where's your ID?' because it's six in the morning, and he took off."

Police said the woman was shaken and upset, but not injured.

Investigators have a description of the man since many students got a good look at him.

Man's Description:
  • Ethnicity: Caucasian, Asian mix
  • Height: 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall
  • Weight: 160-180 pounds
  • Build: heavyset
  • Hair: black, crew cut
  • Eyes: brown
  • Clothing: black T-shirt with the letter "R" on front, dark khaki shorts
  • Some women who live at the dorms said they are uneasy.

"I'm like, OK, I won't be able to shower for a couple of days alone," Yuhudah said.

Students said they have complained the bathroom doors have no locks.

A University of Hawaii spokesman said because of Friday's incident UH is ordering locks for the bathrooms at Kahawai dorm and will install them as soon as possible, starting with the women's floors.

Officials are also investigating how the man entered the dorm without a key and ID.

The Manoa campus has been on alert after 20-year-old Schofield Barracks soldier Mark Heath was arrested Sunday after witnesses said he tried to break into a dorm room at the Hale Aloha Lokelani Tower.

Officers said they found two stolen iPods and women's underwear on him.

In recent months, there have also been other thefts and sexual assaults reported at the dorms.
