A soldier arrested Sunday on a charge of burglary in a university dorm is apparently a suspect in a terrifying sexual assault in another dorm, police said.

Police said 20-year-old Mark Heath was caught walking through the door of a dorm room and in his pockets police found incriminating and disturbing evidence of other crimes.

Court documents said that the Schofield Barracks-enlisted man had a stolen iPod in his pocket along with women's underwear -- two pairs of panties and a bra.

In an already edgy dorm community, the burglary was disturbing news.

"It's just weird. I don't know why someone would do that," said Carrie Kirnbauer, a freshman dorm resident.

Other students shared Kimbauer's sentiments.

"It's kind of terrifying because I am not used to people burglarizing and stuff," said Krystal Pelaio, another freshman resident.

Heath was held by a student who police said caught him trying to enter a girls' room -- the underwear and other items in his pockets came from a different girl's room, police said.

After Heath was arrested at Lokelani Dorm Sunday morning, police said they noticed that he matched the description of a man who broke into a dorm at nearby Mokihana in August -- where he allegedly held scissors to a woman's throat and fondled her

Police said they wouldn't confirm Heath is a suspect in the prior assault, but residents said that even if he is named, their fears wouldn't be over.

"I feel happy that they caught the guy, but at the same time there may be other people doing the same thing," said Marynell Shaw, a freshman resident. "They are never going to stop people from doing stuff. There is always some psycho or something going on."

After the police chief refused to allow UH to hire off-duty officers, the university asked for $1.5 million to hire more guards, improve lighting and put video cameras in dorm lobbies.

Police said Health has not yet been charged with sexual assault. He is being held on $50,000 bail on charges of burglary and illegal entry.
