The president of the Hawaii Superferry and a group of its investors are scheduled to meet with state lawmakers on Monday.

It is the latest step in an effort to hammer out a bill that would allow the Superferry to operate while an environmental review is completed.

If and when the details of the measure are agreed upon, the Legislature would hold an emergency session to pass the bill. Lawmakers said that could happen by the end of the month.

Superferry officials said they would have to leave the islands if the ship does not resume service soon.
