The man who heads a coalition of Hawaii Superferry opponents on Kauai said he fears that protesters will enter the ocean and get arrested when the Superferry restarts service to Kauai in two weeks.

The state and the Coast Guard on Wednesday announced they will have increased enforcement in Nawiliwili Harbor on Sept. 26 to avoid the blockade protesters made there last month. Protesters on surfboards and body boards outmaneuvered Coast Guard crews, preventing the Superferry from docking on Kauai.

The feds said people who violate the security zone in the harbor will face up to 10 years in prison and a $32,000 fine.

Kauai protest leader Rich Hoeppner said some opponents are not concerned about legal consequences.

"We still don't know what will happen when they come in the 26th because we don't have any control of what individuals are going to do," Hoeppner said.

The Superferry said it will not start selling seats for the Kauai route until sometime next week.
