HICKAM AIR FORCE BASE, Hawaii -- President George W. Bush arrived in Hawaii Saturday for a brief refueling stop on his way back to Washington from a regional summit in Australia.

The president had lunch with Hawaii-based troops and met with military leaders and Gov. Linda Lingle before leaving in the afternoon, officials said.

He also recognized Honolulu resident Caroline Tom for her volunteer work. Tom said she was honored by Bush's recognition. He gave her a pin for her hours of volunteering.

The Federal Aviation Administration imposed flight restrictions during Bush's stay, prohibiting all private pilots within a 10-mile radius of Honolulu from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Regularly scheduled commercial passenger and cargo aircraft were not affected.

The president last visited Hawaii in November on his way back from a six-day trip to Southeast Asia.
