2007 HONOLULU -- Two months after he turned over three Kahala homes to low-income Native Hawaiian families, Genshiro Kawamoto on Thursday showed off five more homes to the media. The Japanese real estate mogul plans to have the houses ready in about a month.Kawamoto helped move mattresses out of the way in another one of the Kahala Avenue houses he plans to give to a Native Hawaiian family. Two homes, Kahala Ave. 4806A and 4806B, are on the same property. Both houses share a tennis court, which Kawamoto said will remain.Like Kawamoto's other properties, it is impressive although a little neglected, with some wear and tear.Down the road at 4432 Kahala Ave., workers were fixing the interior and the roof.Less than 45 minutes after it began, the whirlwind tour ended in the largest residence, at 4332 Kahala Ave.Kawamoto said he is nearly sure which five Native Hawaiian families he will pick for the homes. He said he has not heard of any criticism since his so-called Kahala Mission began."I have not received any letters saying I'm doing anything wrong. So, I think I'm all right with what I'm doing," Kawamoto said through an interpreter. He said the next homes should be ready by the end of June. Previous Stories:
