The Honolulu City Council voted 5-to-4 to delay Friday’s scheduled final vote on a route for Oahu’s mass transit system until Tuesday.

Officials said the delay is designed to give the public time to consider an amendment put forth by Transportation Committee member Ann Kobayashi, reported KITV.

The amendment would attach the North-South leg of the so-called "green line to the yellow line," which would start on the Waianae end of Kapolei and parallel the H-1 freeway Mauka of the Ewa plain.

The council is still taking public testimony on Friday, after more than 100 people signed up to testify at the meeting.
