City Council To Vote On Transit

HONOLULU -- The Honolulu City Council on Thursday is taking a step closer to making its final decision on a mass transit system for Oahu.The council is scheduled to vote today on the proposed rail system, which would run from Kapolei to Honolulu.The bill is expected to pass and move on to the Transportation Planning Committee for a hearing next week Thursday.The final vote is planned for Dec. 21. The council would decide the exact route of the system at that time. The project is estimated to cost as much as $5 billion.
