The Washington Wizards go for their fourth consecutive victory this evening, when they host the struggling Los Angeles Clippers at the MCI Center.
Washington tallied a 95-87 victory over the San Antonio Spurs at home on Wednesday night. Antawn Jamison had a season-high 35 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Wizards to the victory. Gilbert Arenas added 24 points for the Wizards, who won their third straight game on the heels of a four-game losing streak.
Jamison and Arenas were both selected as reserves to the Eastern Conference All-Star squad on Tuesday, marking the first time in nearly two decades the franchise has two All-Stars.
Brendan Haywood added 14 points and seven rebounds, while Juan Dixon chipped in 10 points. The Wizards shot 43 percent from the field, including 5-of-11 (.455) from three-point range. Washington drained 18-of-25 (.720) from the free throw line.
Washington, which is 3-0 on its current four-game homestand, is 19-7 in its friendly confines this season. The Wizards have won 11 of 13 and 12 of their last 15 home tilts overall.
Los Angeles enters this contest in the midst of a three-game losing streak, including a 94-89 defeat to Boston on Wednesday. Elton Brand scored a game- high 30 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Clippers in the losing effort.
Forward Corey Maggette returned after missing time with a shoulder injury and contributed 21 points and eight rebounds in the loss. Bobby Simmons was the only other Clipper in double figures with 10 points.
The Clippers shot 40.5 percent from the field, including 4-of-12 (.333) from three-point range. Los Angeles hit 25-of-34 (.735) from the charity stripe.
Los Angeles guard Kerry Kittles sat out again with a groin injury. Kittles hasn't played since January 17 and is likely to miss tonight's game.
The Clippers are 1-3 on their NBA season-high nine-game road trip. For the season, Los Angeles is 6-16 in foreign buildings. The Clippers have lost nine of their last 10 road games.
Washington has won four straight and six of its last seven meetings in this series. The Wizards have won seven of nine and 11 of their last 14 meetings in this set, including five of seven at home. Washington leads this all-time series, 66-24.
