Joke About UH Football Pulled From Police Logs

Police Report Took Swipe At Warriors' Losing Season

POSTED: 11:42 am HST November 6, 2009

The Honolulu Police Department is investigating an entry into its media highlight board that was meant as a joke involving the University of Hawaii football team.

The entry into the police report mentioned that a white powder was found on UH's practice field last week. Coach Greg McMackin stopped practice and the FBI was called in to investigate the substance, the report said.

The FBI analyzed the material and determined that "the white substance unknown to the players was the goal line."

UH is in a six-game losing streak. The team faces Utah State this week at Aloha Stadium.

KSSK radio reported the case as an authentic police case multiple times on Thursday morning before pulling it from broadcasts.

HPD officials said they are looking into the case. HPD communications officials said the item was taken off the log when they went to investigate.
