HONOLULU -- Kelii Acasia and Benjamin Pada were indicted Wednesday in a robbery in Waikiki that led to the death of a good Samaritan who went to the aid of a couple.

KITV has learned the mother of Pada is Kimberly Pada, who is in prison on the mainland for one most brutal child abuse cases ever prosecuted in Hawaii.

Benjamin Pada, 18, would have been only 7 when his mother beat his younger brother Reubyne Buentipo into a vegetative state. Doctors examining 4-year-old Buentipo found cuts and bruises all over his body, cigarette burns and a severely burned left foot.

Buentipo suffered permanent brain injuries. He never regained consciousness. Now, he lives in a convalescent home in a permanent vegetative state.

Benjamin Pada's mother, Kimberly Pada, admitted smoking ice when she abused her son, Reubyne.

Kimberly Pada is serving a 20-year sentence at Otter Creek Prison in Kentucky.

Benjamin Pada was incarcerated at the Oahu Youth Correctional Facility, but he was released on parole in November.

Sources who knew Benjamin Pada at the youth facility said he never made any effort to get in touch with his mother.
