H&M, Hennes & Mauritz, is excited to kick off 2014 with one of the most anticipated U.S. retail openings since H&M’s first store opening in the United States in 2000.
The Swedish retailer will debut its first ever Hawaii store at the Waikiki Business Plaza.
Located on Kalakaua Avenue within the heart of the state capital’s tourist district, the store at the Waikiki Business Plaza will be a uniquely designed tri-level H&M flagship store, as well as H&M’s first American location outside of the Continental U.S.
"Since opening our first American store in 2000, H&M has been committed to opening in the best new locations across the United States," says Daniel Kulle, U.S. President for H&M. "The U.S. is one of the largest expansion markets for the company worldwide, and we are thrilled to begin 2014 with such an important new store in Honolulu."
The H&M at Waikiki Business Plaza will be 31,000 square feet with collection offerings for ladies, men, young ladies, and young men, and separate "store within store" sections for accessories, lingerie, maternity, and sports apparel. The store, which will feature a major entrance at the corner of Seaside and Kalakaua Avenues, will also boast a specially designed façade, custom build outs and high ceilings.
The United States has been one of H&M’s most important markets since H&M opened its first store on New York’s famed Fifth Avenue thirteen years ago. H&M sees continued great potential in all of its existing U.S. markets, as well as new markets, such as Hawaii. At 269 locations across the country, H&M is excited to offer consumers in the Pacific Islands its latest fashions. Internationally, H&M has more than 2,800 stores in 48 markets.
H & M Hennes & Mauritz AB was founded in Sweden in 1947. The company’s business concept is to offer fashion and quality at the best price. In addition to H&M, the group includes the brands COS, Monki, Weekday and Cheap Monday, as well as H&M Home.
