Hawaii's newest inter-island air carrier Mesa Air said it will start selling one-way fares on Thursday for $39. That set off a domino effect.

Hawaiian and Aloha airlines said they will match the new low fares.

Hawaiian and Aloha said the prices will be for travel from June 9 to Sept. 30. Those tickets must be purchased before April 9.

Mesa said it is offering the $39 fares for 90 days.
