More than 800,000 pieces of children's jewelry are being recalled because of the danger of lead poisoning

ABOUT RECALL:

  • Consumer Product Safety Commission issued recall
  • Two separate cases of children's jewelry that contain lead
  • A 4-year-old child swallowed one bracelet and died of lead poisoning

REEBOK RECALL INVOLVES:
  • 300,000 silver-colored, heart-shaped charm bracelets by Reebok
  • 8-inch long metal bracelets and charms have "Reebok" engraved on side
  • Was a free gift with purchase of various styles of children's footwear
  • Child died of lead poisoning from swallowing bracelet

DOLLAR TREE RECALL:
  • 580,000 necklace, ring sets imported by Dollar Tree Distribution
  • Silver-colored, adjustable rings in variety of designs with toy "gem"
  • Necklaces have black string, silver-colored clasps and charm with toy "gem"
  • Packages printed with "Mood Necklace," "Mood Ring," "Glow in the Dark Necklace," "Glow in the Dark Ring," "UV Necklace" or "UV Ring." The "UV packaging reads, "The Sun's Energy Will Change The Color"
  • Sold at Dollar Tree, Dollar Bills, Dollar Express, Greenbacks, Only $1 and Super Dollar Tree stores nationwide

WHAT TO DO:
  • Take it away from child immediately
  • Return for refund
