Jackpot Hits $225 Million In Mega Millions Lottery

RICHMOND, Va. -- Someone could win nearly a quarter of a billion dollars Tuesday night. The Mega Millions lottery jackpot has been growing since Sept. 17.It has rolled over 13 times with no winner.The jackpot is worth an estimated $225 million. The top official at the Virginia Lottery told Associated Press Radio that interest really picks up at about $200 million.Donna Van Cleave said it's "a definite long shot" to win.The odds of winning the top prize are about one in 176 million. But she said people can "have a little fun."Mega Millions is played in 12 states: California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.
