Hawaiian Air Reaches Deal With Union

POSTED: 9:17 am HST January 7, 2005

Hawaiian Airlines has reached an agreement with another union. That will help it find its way out of bankruptcy, officials said.

The new agreement is with its machinists union. If ratified, it will extend their contract by three years once the airline exits bankruptcy. The airline has reached similar agreements with its reservations, customer service and ramp workers as well as its dispatchers.

Hawaiian Airlines must have new labor agreements with all its unions before it can exit bankruptcy.

Negotiations continue with the pilots and flight attendants unions.
