School Cooks Claim Powerball JackpotPOSTED: 8:00 a.m. EST October 28, 2003 ROSEVILLE, Minn. -- They've gone from the soup line to
being millionaires.
Fifteen school cooks and a janitor from a school in Holdingford,
Minn., will split a lottery jackpot from a Powerball ticket
worth more than $95 million.
The school workers bought one of two winning tickets for the
$190.9 million Powerball jackpot. The second ticket
was sold in Indiana.
Since 1990, the Minnesota women had been putting a quarter from
each paycheck toward four Powerball tickets.
The winners said they still haven't decided on choosing the cash
payout option worth about $2.1 million each after
taxes or the payment option.
CNN reports that all the workers still plan to keep their jobs with the school district, despite their winnings.
