Hawaii Resident Makes Forbes Richest List

Magazine Says eBay Founder Pierre Omidyar Worth $5.2B

The founder of the online auction site eBay is the only Hawaii resident to make Forbes richest list this year.

The results were posted Wednesday evening.

Pierre Omidyar lives in Honolulu. The French-born billionaire is worth $5.2 billion, according to Forbes. His fortune increased by $1.6 billion on the rise of eBay stock, the magazine said.

Omidyar ranks 148th on the billionaires list.

Mexican telecom mogul Carlo Slim Helu became the world's richest man for the first time with a worth of $53.5 billion. He beat out Bill Gates and Warren Buffet, who came in second and third, respectively. Read more about the top billionaires.
