The United Public Workers union is asking for a gag order on Gov. Linda Lingle, her chief negotiator and Mayor Mufi Hannemann.

The UPW is asking the Labor Board to order the governor and mayor to stop making any statements about negotiations.

The UPW filed a complaint about the governor's plan for state furloughs, saying that her plans are an illegal attempt to intimidate the collective bargaining process, officials said.

They previously complained that the governor didn't negotiate the furloughs and that her plans illegally reduces retirement benefits.
