Aloha Airlines officials announced on Friday that the company has filed a lawsuit against go! Airlines' parent company, Mesa Air Group.

Aloha said it has more evidence that Mesa is using its budget airline go! in illegal competition.

The lawsuit claims Mesa executives' e-mails discussed giving Aloha "a last push" out of business with low fares.

Aloha is also claiming Mesa is misusing information it got when it considered buying Aloha.

"Aloha is not opposed to competition; we're opposed to unfair competition and a competitor whose objective appears to be the demise of Aloha Airlines, ultimately to the detriment of Hawaii consumers," Aloha Airlines Chief Executive Officer and President David Banmiller said.

Mesa denies it has done anything wrong.

"It seems to us like a pretty desperate act by a desperate carrier," Vice President of Corporate Communications Paul Skellon said.

Skellon said the company's low fares are just a way to win new customers in the market.
