Marlins P Badenhop Hit By Line Drive, Leaves Game

POSTED: 7:50 pm HST July 9, 2009

(Sports Network) - Florida Marlins relief pitcher Burke Badenhop left Thursday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks after being hit near his left knee on a line drive in the fifth inning.

Badenhop, who came on in relief of Andrew Miller in the third inning, was hit by a low liner from Gerardo Parra with one out in the fifth. After the ball caromed off Badenhop, the right-hander went down in a heap on the mound. Badenhop limped off the field under his own power and was replaced by Brian Sanches.

X-rays were negative. Badenhop was diagnosed with a left knee contusion and is day-to-day.

Florida rallied from a seven-run deficit to win, 14-7.
