Pujols Honored As NL Player Of The Month

New York, NY -- (Sports Network) - St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols has been named the National League Player of the Month for June.A seven-time All-Star, Pujols batted .320 with a league-leading 14 homers and 35 RBI during the month. He also had 10 doubles and scored 19 times, all while posting an impressive .856 slugging percentage. He also walked 19 times, leading to a .427 on-base percentage. Pujols had three multi-home run games and has 30 for his career going into Friday's play. He also homered in three straight games, June 11-13. It was also a milestone month for Pujols. He scored his 1,000th career run on June 19 against the Royals. San Francisco's Pablo Sandoval, who had a .394 batting average with eight homers and 20 RBI, and Milwaukee's Prince Fielder, who hit .363 with eight homers and 26 RBI, also received votes.
