Funtastic Fridays at the Hawaii Nature Center

The Hawai’i Nature Center will provide a series of day camps targeting Oahu & Maui families of elementary-aged children displaced by the Department of Education’s decision to furlough teachers through the 2009-2010 school year.

The science-based, experiential learning programs will provide high value opportunities for learning and enrichment. The day camps will immerse learners in the dynamic natural setting on state forest and riparian habitats and restored kalo fields in Makiki Valley on Oahu & Iao Valley on Maui. The programs will be facilitated by the Nature Center’s corps of professional educators with specialized training in facilitated learning, outdoor leadership skills and content expertise about Hawaii’s natural and cultural history.

Registration for these day camps will be open to elementary-aged students, ages 6-11, on a first-come, space-available basis for the entire 17-day series or by mini-series packages.

For additional information about the Hawaii Nature Center contact Casey Carmichael, Director of O’ahu Operations, at 955-0100 ext. 26 or via email.
