Hotel Workers Reach Tentative Deal With Hyatt

POSTED: 11:39 am HST October 27, 2006

Local 5 union leaders and the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort and Spa said that the two sides reached a tentative contract agreement.

Employees have been working without a contract since June 30.

Negotiators approved the deal on Thursday night.

The union will now take the proposal to the members at the hotel before scheduling a ratification vote.

The details are similar to deals reached with Hilton and Sheraton properties, which were approved by workers at those hotels, according to sources.

The union must still negotiate deals with the Waikiki Beach Marriott, Ilikai, Kahala and Ala Moana hotels. All of the hotels' contracts expired on June 30.
