A football player from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass., is accused of attacking his teammate.

According to the Worcester Telegram & Gazette, offensive lineman Michael McCabe allegedly attacked wide receiver Luke Chmielinski early Sunday morning in an off-campus apartment, where members of the Holy Cross team gathered to celebrate the squad's 41-34 victory over Brown.

The attack left Chmielinski bleeding from the back and the chest, the newspaper reported.

Chmielinski told an officer he had been stabbed but later declined to be interviewed by detectives, the Telegram & Gazette reported. He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the newspaper, authorities didn't say what prompted the attack, only that it involved McCabe, his sister and Chmielinski.

Holy Cross football coach Tom Gilmore said Sunday that the allegations detailed by police were wrong, but that he did not yet have all of the details and couldn't comment further.
