Somebeachsomewhere Favored In Meadowlands Pace

East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) - Leading three-year-old pacer Somebeachsomewhere is the 2-5 morning-line favorite for Saturday's $1.1 million Meadowlands Pace. The colt will take on nine rivals in the one-mile event.

Winner of the North America Cup last month, Somebeachsomewhere will start from post two with Paul MacDonnell driving. The pacer is trained by co-owner Brent MacGrath and won one of last week's three elimination races.

"He's healthy, he's happy, he's strong, he's fast, he's good gaited," McGrath stated. "He's good. I think he'll be a stronger horse next week just because of the month off."

Somebeachsomewhere is perfect in 10 career starts and has lifetime earnings of $1.6 million.

Also winning elimination heats were Share The Delight and Sand Shooter.

The 6-1 second choice is Badlands Nitro with driver Brian Sears. Third to Somebeachsomewhere in the elimination race, Badlands Nitro will start from post nine for trainer George Teague, Jr.

"Somebeachsomewhere was awesome," said Teague following last week's race. "He's a monster and looked every bit the part of it. Good horse, great horse, he definitely deserves the titles he's gotten so far."

This year Badlands Nitro has earned $867,488 while winning six of eight starts.

Sand Shooter has been installed as the 8-1 third choice and will leave from the three-hole with Tim Tetrick driving.

Sand Shooter, trained by Jim Arledge Jr., has won eight of 20 career races for $410,957. This year the three-year-old has earned $81,312 with three wins in six starts.

"I don't even think about winning because the odds are so strong against us," said Bill Sanders, who owns Sand Shooter with Jerry Silva. "We're going against the best horse I've ever seen. There were some before me, like Nihilator, but this is the best I've seen. We're going to try to win it, but it's just a great honor to be among 10 elite horses."

Here is the complete field for the 32nd Meadowlands Pace: Share The Delight, John Campbell 10-1; Somebeachsomewhere, Paul MacDonell 2-5; Sand Shooter, Tim Tetrick 8-1; Atochia, Brian Sears 30-1; Mucho Sleazy, David Miller 30-1; Art Official, Ron Pierce 10-1; Bullville Powerful, Yannick Gingras 12-1; Dontloseyourdayjob, Eric Goodell 30-1; Badlands Nitro, Brian Sears 6-1 and Tiz A Masterpiece, Andy Miller 30-1.

Post-time for the Meadowlands Pace is set for 10:14 p.m. (et).
