From sleeping in a shed. To sleeping in a bed. Tonight's meet and island family who has plenty to be grateful for this holiday season. They're working hard at their goals to become self sufficient one day--- but they need your help to make this Christmas a little brighter for their little ones. heres KITV-4's Paula Akana 3:03:39-43 IT'S WAY BETTER WE HAVE OUR OWN PLACE.MY KIDS ARE SO HAPPY REALLY HAPPY. This is a good Christmas for Shayla and their family--- they have a roof over the heads and a place to call home. A far cry from last year.... When they were sleeping in a shed on a relatives property. And last christmas... they were on the beach .... Shayla turned for help--not just for herself. but for her kids. 3:07:43-3:07:53 THEY;RE VERY IMPORTANT TO US. VERY. WE DO EVERYTHING WE CAN JUST FOR THEM. THATS WHY I GOT INTO TYR TO GET US INTO A PLACE. I DIDNT SEE THEM AT THE BEACH THATS WHY. They were accepted into the Ohana Ola O Kahumana transitional housing program... Where they are taking advantage of classes and programs to give them the tools they need to eventually get a place on their own. Dad works, while Shayna is planning on going back to school. Money is tight.... But since they are together as a family in their own place... .. She would like the kids to have the Christmas they missed last year on the beach. 4:39-4:50 CHRISTMAS. WE didn't EVEN START SHOPPING YET. IS HARD BECAUSE WE STILL HAVE BILL TO PAY. IF WE DO HAVE A LITTLE EXTRA WE BUY THEM STUFF HERE AND THERE. PAULA AKANA, KITV4 NEWS. Shayla would love presents for her kids to open on christmas day. Her four year old daughter loves baby dolls. Her 6 year old son loves Army toys. The family has just gotten into fishing, so any fishing gear would be helpful. She'd love running Shoes... Dad needs clothes--men's size triple-x-L.
