Health care insurance provider Hawaii Medical Assurance Association announced on Thursday that it has released a free application for the iPhone and iPod Touch to help members find participating doctors.

The app gives users the names of participating providers, maps, phone numbers and access to HMAA's Web site to find information about mainland doctors, clinics and more.

"We want to make it as easy as possible for our members and employers to find doctors’ and other healthcare providers’ offices," HMAA’s president and CEO John Henry Felix said in a written statement. "This app is unlike anything on the market. It does not merely bring up our Web site on the screen -- it takes you straight to a user-friendly provider directory so you can not only instantly find the address of any of HMAA’s nearly 6,000 providers, you can get directions straight to the doctor’s office, or to a lab, rehab facility, chiropractor or any other provider."

Here is a link to the app in the iTunes store.
