The top restaurants of 2005 were honored in a gala presentation at the Kahala Mandarin Sunday evening.

For 22 years, the Hale Aina awards have paid tribute to the islands' favorite eateries as voted by the readers of Honolulu Magazine.

The chefs of Hoku's, Alan Wong's, Roy's, Chef Mavro and other fine dining establishments put out their best dishes to benefit Hale 'aina Ohana. The program supports culinary training through the University of Hawaii Community Colleges and high school food service systems.

The top restaurant this year went to Alan Wong's. (Click here for the complete list of winners.)

"While we're here partying and enjoying this, there's a great team back home at two restaurants; dedicated, loyal, hard-working and we believe truly their success is our success," Wong said.
