Asparagus Wasabi Tempura

This is not a low fat dish because it is fried in oil. So I would only eat this once in a while on a special occasion.Ingredients: 16 asparagus spears 3/4 cup flour 2 TBS cornstarch 1 tsp salt 1 tsp sugar 1 tsp baking powder 1 tsp ginger powder 2 tsp wasabi powder 1/4 cup water 1/2 cup beer 2 cups canola oil Instructions: Mix cornstarch, flour, salt, sugar, baking powder, ginger, and wasabi in a bowl. Add water and beer and whisk until smooth. Transfer to a baking dish.
Heat oil in a large skillet. Dip asparagus spears in the batter, drop into oil and cook until lightly browned. Cook half the asparagus, then the other half. Drain on a paper towel.
