Black Mushrooms With Shanghai Veggies

A simple recipe that's fancy enough for a banquet.

Ingredients:
  • Chinese style black mushrooms 10 pieces
  • Shanghai or green vegetables 6-8 stalks (fewer stalks if large)
  • Vegetarian stir fry sauce 2 tbsp
  • Brown sugar ½ tbsp
  • Corn starch 1 tbsp
  • Sesame oil 1 tsp
  • Salt 1 tbsp
  • Instructions:
    1. Soak mushrooms in cold water until they are softened. Remove the stems. Cut the mushrooms in half.
    2. Take the hearts of green vegetables and boil them in hot water. Add salt and cooking oil to the pot.
    3. Take out the vegetables after they appear soft and put them immediately to a bowl of cold water with ice cubes in it. Take them out after a little while and drain.
    4. Saute the mushrooms in oil in high heat. Add vegetarian stir fry sauce, brown sugar and a little bit of salt. Reduce fire to medium. Pour corn starch and water mixture to the dish and add sesame oil.
    5. Remove from wok and place the mushrooms in center of a plate. Place green vegetables around them. Serves 4-5 people.
