Your state treasurer may have some unclaimed money that belongs to you. Old bank accounts are a good example. Log on to MissingMoney.com and clip on the states you have lived in.Several years ago many large insurance companies went through a process that gave policyholders shares in the company when it started trading. Those shares could be redeemed for cash.The problem is many people don't leave forwarding addresses to their insurance companies. So check with your life insurance company.If the company you worked for went bankrupt or was bought out and your pension plan was terminated you may be eligible to receive benefits from the Pension Benefits Guarantee Corp. Log onto PBGC.gov. Last year PBGC held over $130 million in unclaimed benefits.
