The original location of Kamehameha Bakery is closing down on Tuesday. The historic bakery is set to open on Friday at a new location in Kalihi.
Kamehameha Bakery has been at 1339 North School Street since 1978, according to Google. It has been famous for making doughnuts, malasadas and other pastries in flavors like haupia and poi.
It will open on Friday at City Square near the intersection of Kalani Street and Kohou Street right across from Young's Fish Market.
And Kamehameha Bakery has plans beyond Kalihi.
"This recipe has gone to Japan now. We plan on opening in Japan, too," said Kamehameha Bakery Vice President Geramie Paglinawan.
When Kamehameha Bakery opens on Friday, the store will be open daily from 2 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can call the bakery at 845-5831.
