Jasmine Trias Releases Debut CD

You may have thought Jasmine-mania had cooled a bit, but it heated up Tuesday night as local recording artist Jasmine Trias celebrated a first: the debut of her first full CD.

Fans swarmed the Aloha Tower Marketplace to get an autograph from the local singer.

"I feel great. I'm speechless right now because I did not expect the turnout here at Kapono's," Trias said.

Fans waited in line for hours to have Jasmine sign the album that's being billed as an edgier, rhythm and blues-based sound.

"This is what I'm really all about. And, so I'm here to show everybody it's R-and-B. It's Jasmine Trias with an edge," she said.

The 19-year-old rose to fame on American Idol in 2004. Since then, she said a lot has gone on.

"I've grown so much since American Idol. Even though it's been about a year, I feel like it's been about 10 years. I've gone through so much, experienced so many things, especially with this album. I really just grew so much from that," Trias said.

The CD already has a hit. The song "Excuses" is topping charts in the Philippines.
