HONOLULU -- You may have thought Jasmine-mania had cooled a bit, but it heated up Tuesday night as local recording artist Jasmine Trias celebrated a first: the debut of her first full CD.Fans swarmed the Aloha Tower Marketplace to get an autograph from the local singer."I feel great. I'm speechless right now because I did not expect the turnout here at Kapono's," Trias said.Fans waited in line for hours to have Jasmine sign the album that's being billed as an edgier, rhythm and blues-based sound."This is what I'm really all about. And, so I'm here to show everybody it's R-and-B. It's Jasmine Trias with an edge," she said. The 19-year-old rose to fame on American Idol in 2004. Since then, she said a lot has gone on."I've grown so much since American Idol. Even though it's been about a year, I feel like it's been about 10 years. I've gone through so much, experienced so many things, especially with this album. I really just grew so much from that," Trias said. The CD already has a hit. The song "Excuses" is topping charts in the Philippines.
