Listen up! Class is in session -- and this is your "Lockdown!" recap.
TNA's latest three-hour pay-per-view event was held Sunday night, all inside the company's unique six-sided steel cage.
Enough yakkin' already, on with the results: Lethal Lockdown Match (each team picks one man to start the match, the other four are added one at a time, every few minutes, based on a coin flip.): Jeff Jarrett (World heavyweight champion), "Alpha Male" Monty Brown and Outlaw (formerly Billy Gunn) vs. Diamond Dallas Page, Sean Waltman (formerly X-Pac) and Kevin Nash
What Should Happen: TNA is teasing that Nash will sit out with an injury. If so, Sandman fills in as a "mystery partner" and hurls his drunken body all around the cage in various creative ways. Ladders and weapons abound. Brown, a newly turned bad guy, gets the big push by pinning Page.
What Will Happen: Since we don't have a heavyweight title match tonight, Jarrett will want to score the pin here. But the "Alpha Male" will pull off some sufficiently heelish maneuver to help him do it.
What Did Happen: "Alpha" got pinned by Waltman. Nash didn't show up due to a knee injury.No. 1 Contender's Match: AJ Styles vs. Abyss
What Should Happen: Styles in a cage? Are you kidding me? Who cares what happens -- anything he comes up with will be great. Probable match of the night, maybe the year.
What Will Happen: AJ's rise to main-event level continues as he hits the Styles Clash and earns the title shot -- but only after taking big-time punishment from Abyss.
What Did Happen:Styles took out Abyss, he'll face Jeff Jarrett at the next TNA PPV for the NWA title.
X Division title match: "Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels vs. "Primetime" Elix Skipper
What Should Happen: Daniels won the belt from Styles last month and shouldn't give it up yet, not even to Skipper, who put TNA's crazy-looking cage on the map last year by walking the top of the fence and flipping into a huracanrana.
What Will Happen: Skipper's incredible athleticism can't be matched by Daniels, but the Fallen Angel is pretty close. Daniels retains after a lengthy bout, making Skipper a bigger star in the process.
What Did Happen:Skipper looks great, but Daniels wins to keep belt. Tag Team title match: America's Most Wanted vs. Team Canada
What Should Happen: These two teams have had some classics, but the feud is getting old and a cage was probably the only place left for them to go. Team Canada should win the belts, so AMW can demand a rivalry-extending rematch.
What Will Happen: Cowardly manager Scott D'Amore (who does a great job in the role) finds his way into the cage and takes a beating, giving AMW the "moral victory," but the Canadians prevail.
What Did Happen:AMW wins, keeps belts.Tables Match: Jeff Hardy vs. Raven
What Should Happen: The daredevil Hardy typically shines in this type of situation. Raven, who hasn't been used well at all lately, is at his most creative in wild, stipulation-filled matches and could really use a win.
What Will Happen: A definite show-stealer, if management allows them to go all out in this mid-card position. Hardy wins a bloody brawl, keeping him in the heavyweight title picture.
What Did Happen:Hardy won after he drove Raven through a stack of four tables.Prince of Darkness Match: Dustin Rhodes vs. Bobby Roode
What Should Happen: Here, both men must wear blindfolds. Roode, a one-time tag champ in Team Canada, is a future star. Great ring presence, takes bumps like a young Steve Austin ("Stunning," not "Stone Cold"). The goofy blindfold gimmick will hold him back, but pinning Rhodes is the perfect way to get his singles career started.
What Will Happen: Rhodes' father Dusty calls the shots backstage as TNA's "Director of Authority." Hmmm ... who do YOU think will win?
What Did Happen: Dusty's kid won.Xscape Match: Michael Shane vs. Sonjay Dutt vs. Chris Sabin vs. Shocker
What Should Happen: The first performer to leave the cage wins this X Division match, so look for plenty of quick spots and aerial artistry. Sabin, overlooked in recent weeks, emerges victorious from the steel and positions himself for a shot at Daniels.
What Will Happen: Shocker, a big Mexican star, wins his TNA PPV debut.
What Did Happen:Shocker takes it.Challenge Match: Apollo vs. Lance Hoyt
What Should Happen: Who are these guys? Why are they in a cage, not to mention on PPV? TNA kills this thing before it starts and gives more time to Styles-Abyss.
What Will Happen: Hoyt wins, to the delight of no one. Hot dog stands do big business.
What Did Happen: TNA changed this to a tag match with Chris Candido teaming with Hoyt and Sonny Siaki teaming with Apollo. The good guys (Siaki/Apollo) won, with Candido breaking his leg after a rough landing. Pretty ugly injury. That's it. For the record, I was five for eight for the night. Again, pretty impressive -- and you know it.Get out of here! Class dismissed!(Professor Wrestling is a masked employee of Internet Broadcasting Systems. He eats punks like you for breakfast.
