Simpson has posted a notice on her Web site saying the next single will not be "Autobiography" after all, but "La La." "Autobiography" was the song she was supposed to sing on "Saturday Night Live" but a vocal track for "Pieces of Me" came through instead -- even though Simpson did not have a microphone near her mouth.

As Simpson and her band began their second song on "SNL," the sound of a pre-recorded vocal could be heard -- to the song that she'd already done earlier in the show. Simpson stopped, and paused, and then tried a few exaggerated dance steps, before leaving the stage. She later blamed her band for playing "the wrong song."

Simpson's father, who's also her manager, said his daughter used the extra help from a voice track because acid reflux disease had made her voice hoarse.

She told MTV's "Total Request Live" "The whole situation was a bummer." She also said, "It's so embarrassing," and that she made a complete fool of herself. But she said she and her band didn't know what to do when everything fell apart. She said they all "went into a state of shock."

Simpson Mocked On 'SNL'

Even Osama bin Laden is giving Simpson a hard time for her singing mixup on "Saturday Night Live."

Seth Myers opened "SNL" as bin Laden on last weekend's show, spoofing the video he released last week.

He said it was "evil" for Simpson to blame acid reflux for her singing problem and it was a "disgrace" to lip-synch on a live show.

Later in the show, Horatio Sanz dumped on Simpson as Elton John. He sang "you're a phony, acid reflux is baloney."

Host Kate Winslet made fun of Simpson while singing in the opening number -- and she was also spoofed during "Weekend Update."
