ARTafterDARK celebrates Chinese New Year on Friday, January 27, 2012 between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. at the Honolulu Academy of Arts.

MUSIC+ENTERTAINMENT:

Central Courtyard

Ring in the Year of the Dragon with drums and a lion dance at 7:30pm. Offer the lion a red envelope to ensure good fortune in the New Year.

DJ Silvana brings her charismatic blend of deep lounge house music to Central Courtyard. 6-9pm.

Luce Pavilion DJ Anit, one of Hawaii’s top female DJs, spins mash-ups, R&B grooves, electro, dance, house, hip hop, and live remixes, adding her intricate scratching flare to the platform and having fun behind the table at the same time. 6-9pm.

Kinau Courtyard Step into ancient China with the sounds of a Chinese 21-string zheng (zither) performance by internationally acclaimed Yi-Chieh Lai. 6-8pm.

ART:

Mediterranean Courtyard Academy Members will be treated to hand fans custom brush-painted by modern Zen artist Andy Lee. 6-9pm, while supplies last.

All the first floor art galleries are open during ARTafterDARK.

FOOD + DRINK: Town and Downtown restaurants are back as ARTafterDARK's food and beverage sponsors. Try their take on contemporary Chinese food.

Doris AfterDark

Head to the Doris Duke Theatre to see a special 9pm screening of Bruce Lee's Enter the Dragon.

ARTafterDARK admission: $10. Free for Academy members.

PARKING

Just a reminder—ARTafterDARKers can park in the following locations:

1) FREE: Street parking on Beretania and Kinau Street from 6 p.m.

2) $4: The Pro Park Parking Lot behind the Art Center at Linekona, entrances on Beretania and Young streets Payment is to be made at the yellow slot box next to the parking booth.

3) $5 at the First United Methodist Church Parking Lot on the corner of Beretania and Victoria streets. NOTE: lot closes promptly at 10 p.m.

4) $5 at Kim Chee III Parking Lot on Young Street
