HONOLULU -- The Hawaii Theatre on Friday announced that illness has prompted the cancellation of the annual "A Cazimero Christmas" concert.

Roland Cazimero is recovering from pneumonia, officials said. Cazimero's doctors said rehearsals and performances would not allow him to recover properly.

"Naturally we all hate to disappoint patrons and seldom cancel performances, but we are all more concerned about Roland’s health and speedy recovery. This decision was made between Robert, Roland and me this morning at Roland’s hospital bedside and the tears in Roland’s eyes were testament to how disappointed he was that we had to make this difficult decision," Hawaii Theatre General Manager Burton White said in a statement.

"The energies I was putting into the final touches of a great show are all now redirected to the health and well-being of my brother, Roland," Robert Cazimero said.

The Brothers Cazimero have been part of the holiday season tradition for years. The duo vowed to return next year.

Theatre officials said they expect to release information about refunds in the coming days.
