Listen up!Class is in session.Total Nonstop Action's "Destination X" pay-per-view is in the books. What happened in the big matches? Read on. Challenge Match: Samoa Joe vs. Scott Steiner
What Should Happen: This will be a short, brutal match since Steiner really doesn't have much left in the tank. He looks great, but isn't exactly blessed with finesse. Joe has hit a glass ceiling as far as the title picture is concerned, so he should get the win here in the non-title bout.
What Will Happen: Carnage, with Samoa Joe getting the win.
What Did Happen: It was short. Two minutes, to be exact. And Steiner won it by DQ.
TNA Legends Championship Match: Booker T vs. A.J. Styles
What Should Happen: This is a decent mid-card match pitting two former champions against each other. I'd like a little more build-up, but this is TNA after all. Long-term pay-per-view booking is pretty alien to these people. Anyway, Styles should get the pin.
What Will Happen: I'll take Styles.
What Did Happen: Styles won it, capturing Booker's mythical Legends title. Is that something to put on your resume?
TNA Women's Championship Match: Awesome Kong (c) vs. Sojo Bolt
What Should Happen: Sojo: former Kong follower. Kong: awesome champion. It looks like this has a shot at being a decent match, which is saying a lot with the wretched state of women's wrestling these days. Kong is outstanding, and should get the pin.
What Will Happen: Awesome Kong will retain.
What Did Happen: Kong all the way to retain
TNA Tag Team Championship Match: Beer Money (c) vs. Team 3D
What Should Happen: James Storm and Robert Roode bore me. Brother Ray and Brother Devon don't. They should win. Simple as that. It's time for these titles to change hands. The man that gets pinned in this match, by the way, has to leave TNA. Sounds like Storm is going away, which wouldn't be such a bad idea. Steve Austin made beer-swilling charming. Storm makes it dopey. I'm bored with it. Bring on the table-breakers.
What Will Happen: Team 3D gets another tag team title run.
What Did Happen: Team 3D won, but Beer Money was DQ'd -- so the title doesn't change hands.
Ultimate X Match: Alex Shelley (c) vs. Chris Sabin vs. Consequences Creed vs. Jay Lethal vs. Suicide
What Should Happen: This is for the X-Division title, held by Shelley. The belt is suspended at the intersection of two ropes hung above the ring. Whoever grabs it first, wins. This could be a show-stealer, given the nature of the match and the athletic ability of those involved. With that being said, it's probably a good idea to have the champ retain, since there's no real reason to put it on anyone else in the ring. I say have a heckuva match, go at least 35 minutes, have a lot of nearfalls and once again show fans what the X-Division can do. That's more important here than who wins.
What Will Happen: Shelley takes it to retain his X-title.
What Did Happen: Wouldn't you know it. The fifth-wheel Suicide takes the title.
TNA Championship Match: Sting (c) vs. Kurt Angle
What Should Happen: Sting and Angle, both members of the Main Event Mafia, meet in a heel-on-heel tilt. I don't want to say "Yawn," but TNA has to do a better job keeping the X-Division stars at the top of the promotion. Angle and Sting are OK, I guess, but I've seen this before. The X-Division makes TNA dramatically different from WWE, but for some reason its shoved in the background. Who should win? Sting. Just so he can lose it later to a deserving TNA up-and-comer, like Eric Young.
What Will Happen: Sting will prevail and keep his TNA title.
What Did Happen: Sting got the pin over Angle.
That's it. For the record, I had four matches right and two totally wrong. I guess my remarkable streak continues. I know you're not surprised. But wait!
