'Lost' Actor Pleads No Contest To Drunken Driving

Kim Vows Not To Make Same Mistake Again

"Lost" actor Daniel Dae Kim pleaded no contest Thursday to driving drunk when police stopped him last October.

Police arrested Kim near the King Street on-ramp to the H-1 Freeway in Moiliili. Police found his blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit.

In court, he accepted responsibility and heard his punishment. The prosecutor noted the publicity surrounding the case.

"As evidence by the media coverage here today, the public has interest in the outcome of this case. Mr. Kim's stature makes him a role model in the community, and therefore the consequences of his criminal behavior must be such that it will make him consider the outcome before committing another criminal offense," prosecutor Lisa DeMello said.

The judge fined Kim $500, plus $212 in court fees and ordered him to perform 72 hours of community service. Kim had already lost his license for six months and completed drug and alcohol assessment.

"I'm just grateful and relieved this matter has been resolved. It has been a difficult time for my family and me, but I'm glad I had a chance to take responsibility for my mistake and grateful to my fans and people of Hawaii and looking forward to putting it behind me," Kim said.

Kim said he is sorry for disappointing his fans and vowed he would not make the same mistake again.

Kim is one of a string of "Lost" stars arrested on DUI charges. Former cast members Michelle Rodriguez and Cynthia Watros pleaded no contest on drunken driving charges.
