Brooke White Booted Off Of 'American Idol'

Field Of Competitors Down To Four

Brooke White is the latest contestant to be kicked off "American Idol."

White perhaps knew that the end was coming, since she was crying before host Ryan Seacrest even announced her name.

True to her past on the show, White blew the beginning of her farewell song. The 24-year-old Arizona native also cried throughout the song and ended by turning her back to the audience.

Seacrest said that 45 million votes were cast for the final five. This week the competitors sang the songs of Neil Diamond.

David Archuleta got a bonus -- Natasha Bedingfield said she'd go to the prom with him.

Paula Abdul steered clear of talking about her goof on Wednesday night's show where she started critiquing Jason Castro on both of his songs when he had sung just one.

Seacrest addressed the incident by saying the judges "were thrown a curveball on the air" and it sparked a lot of gossip about Abdul.

"The rumors -- they're not true. She's part of our family and we love her," Seacrest said.

Seacrest, however, did not say what those rumors were.

Surviving the cut to make it to the final four were Archuleta, Castro, David Cook and Syesha Mercado.
