POSTED: 2:36 pm HST October 31, 2009

(Sports Network) - The Miami-Ohio RedHawks built a 24-7 first-half lead and held on to defeat the Toledo Rockets 31-24 in a Mid-American Conference game at Yager Stadium.

The win ended the RedHawks' 13-game losing streak.

A last-minute drive by the Rockets came up short when Danny Noble fumbled near the goal line and out of bounds with a minute to play in regulation. The play was originally called a touchdown, but after review, the play was ruled a touchback and Miami was able to run out the clock.

Zac Dysert was 31-for-51 through the air for the RedHawks (1-8, 1-4 MAC) for 344 yards and a touchdown. Jamal Rodgers and Armand Robinson caught seven balls each.

Adonis Thomas rushed for 107 yards for the Rockets (4-5, 2-3) on 13 carries. Toledo used three quarterbacks in the game. Starter Aaron Opelt left when he aggravated a shoulder injury and Austin Dantin played briefly before leaving with a sore ankle. Alex Pettee finished the game, as the three gunslingers accounted for 228 yards and one touchdown on 18-of-30 pass attempts.

The RedHawks scored on a turnover four minutes into the game when Wes Williams intercepted an Opelt pass and returned it 20 yards for a touchdown.

The Rockets tied the game in the final minute of the first quarter when DaJuane Collins scored on a one-yard run that was set up by a Miami fumble.

Miami regained the lead two minutes into the second quarter, as Dysert hit Andrew Cruse with a 10-yard scoring pass.

Dysert ran for a three-yard touchdown midway through the period to extend the RedHawks' lead to 21-7.

Trevor Cook's school-record 55-yard field goal with 37 seconds left in the half extended Miami's lead to 24-7.

The Rockets drew closer when Opelt hit Eric Page with a 14-yard touchdown pass two minutes into the third quarter. Alex Steigerwald hit on a 26-yard field goal midway through the period to make it a 24-17 game.

Dysert responded with Miami's last score of the afternoon, a 23-yard touchdown run that put the RedKawks up 31-17 with just under four minutes left in the third quarter.

Page ran 15 yards for a score to make it a 31-24 game with under a minute left in the third quarter, but the Rockets would be blanked the rest of the way in the loss.
