GAME NOTES: The Utah State Aggies finally get to play on their own floor in Logan tonight as they suit up against the Idaho State Bengals in non- conference action and defend what has become a 34-game home win streak.

The Aggies, expected by many to take the title in the Western Athletic Conference this season, have gotten off to a rough start with just one win and a pair of setbacks. Since taking out Weber State in the season opener by a mere six points (66-60), USU has fallen to both Utah by one point (68-67) and Northeastern by three (64-61) on Saturday. This is the first 1-2 start for the program since 1995-96 and the first set of back-to-back defeats since the end of the 2007-08 campaign.

Meanwhile, the Bengals opened the season with three straight on the road as well, bowing to the likes of Iowa State, Bradley and BYU. On Saturday, Idaho State finally broke into the win column with a 77-60 triumph over Colorado Christian.

USU has dominated this series with a mark of 32-13, winning 13 of the 15 games played at home over the Bengals. Last season, the Aggies claimed a 67-57 win over ISU, marking the 10th straight victory in the series for Utah State.

Idaho State scored the first points of the game against Colorado Christian on Saturday and never looked back, leading by as many as 19 down the stretch. Amorrow Morgan padded his stats with his 25-point performance, while Broderick Gilchrest accounted for 16 points for the squad as well. Demetrius Monroe took advantage in the paint by converting all five of his field goal attempts while posting a double-double consisting of 12 points and 12 rebounds. Morgan, the leading scorer in each of the last two games is now up to 17.8 ppg, even though he is shooting a woeful 3-of-14 (.214) behind the three-point line. Gilchrest checks in with 14.8 ppg, which means the pair combine for almost half of the team's 66.8 ppg at the moment. Monroe is slowly getting into the offense with his 9.5 ppg, but for now the Bengals are happy with his production on the glass (10.5 rpg).

Against Northeastern on the road in Boston, the Aggies were outscored 19-8 at the free-throw line and turned the ball over 15 times in the narrow setback. Tai Wesley took control on offense for USU with his 16 points, followed by Nate Bendall who tallied 15 points and nine rebounds before fouling out. Tyler Newbold chipped in 10 points and Jared Quayle contributed a game-high 10 rebounds in an effort to offset his mere 2-of-9 shooting from the floor. Even though he had a weak effort versus the Huskies, Quayle is still the leading scorer for the Aggies with his 14.7 ppg and is first on the glass with close to 10 rebounds per contest also. Bendall has emerged as a reliable offensive option with 13.3 ppg, adding eight rpg, but the fact that he has fouled out of two of the three games thus far means he is not being used to his fullest potential. Defensively this group is doing well to hold foes to only 39.3 percent from the field and 23.3 percent behind the three-point line.

As well as the USU defense has performed, the Aggies still need the offense to show up on a more regular basis. As long as Quayle can bounce back with a sound effort the home team should be able to keep its winning streak alive.

Predicted Outcome

Utah State 72, Idaho State 61

Utah State
