NCAA Game Summary - Penn At Penn State

State College, PA -- (Sports Network) - Talor Battle's double-double of 27 points and 10 rebounds powered the Penn State Nittany Lions past the Penn Quakers, 70-55, in a non-conference matchup at the Bryce Jordan Center. Jeff Brooks added 10 points in the win for Penn State (1-0). Jack Eggleston scored 13 points to lead the way for Penn (0-1), while Tyler Bernardini tallied 12 points in the losing effort. A 50.0 percent effort from the floor during the opening frame enabled the Nittany Lions to take a 36-29 lead into the break. The Quakers were limited to just 36.4 percent from the field during the second stanza, including a paltry 1-of-9 from long range, as Penn State rolled to the 15-point win. The Quakers shot a mere 37.5 percent from the floor in the loss. The crowd of 7,507 featured Hollywood movie star Denzel Washington, who was on hand to watch his son Malcolm, a Quaker freshman.
