Reno, NV -- (Sports Network) - Kyle Gibson scored 23 points to power the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs to a 70-62 victory over the Idaho Vandals in the quarterfinal round of the Western Athletic Conference Tournament. Olu Ashaolu tallied 14 points for sixth-seeded Louisiana Tech (15-17), which will take on second-seeded Nevada in the semifinals. The Bulldogs also got 10 points from Brandon Gibson, who shot 4-of-5 from the floor. Mac Hopson scored 16 points and dished out eight assists in defeat for the third-seeded Vandals (16-15). Marvin Jefferson added 15 points for Idaho. Louisiana Tech did not attempt a single free throw in the first half, but the team did knock down 7-of-10 attempts from three-point range en route to a 31-27 lead at intermission. The Bulldogs were able to score 20 points from the foul line over the final 20 minutes to hold off the Vandals. Louisiana Tech connected on 53.8 percent of its field goal attempts in the tilt and earned a 27-21 rebounding advantage.
