(Sports Network) - Wesley Jenkins registered a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Saint Peter's Peacocks to a 57-48 win over the Iona Gaels in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play at the Yanitelli Center

Shooting 10-of-12 at the free-throw line, Nick Leon accounted for a team-best 17 points for the Peacocks (10-18, 7-10 MAAC) as they won for the fourth time in the last five games. Ryan Bacon cooked up 13 points, nine boards and four blocked shots in the victory as well.

The Gaels (12-17, 7-10) were paced by Gary Springer who tallied game highs with 18 points and 12 boards in the third straight setback for the program.

Iona shot a mere 36.4 percent from the field in the first half, including 2- of-8 behind the three-point line, not to mention 2-of-8 at the charity stripe, yet trailed by just three points at the break, 23-20.

In the second half the visitors sank to just six total field goals and 1-of-9 out on the perimeter, en route to the nine-point loss.

Saint Peter's made it into the win column tonight despite shooting only 39.5 percent from the floor and 3-of-10 behind the three-point line, all while turning the ball over 16 times.
