Honolulu, HI -- (Sports Network) - The University of Hawaii extended the contract of men's basketball coach Bob Nash for one year and added a one-year option.Nash had one year remaining on his initial three-year contract, but now has a deal through the 2010-11 season. He also has an extension option for the 2011-12 season if certain performance standards are reached. That includes participating in a postseason appearance or winning 18 games during either the 2009-10 or 2010-11 seasons. "I think Bob has the nucleus of a team that can be very competitive next year with a couple of key additions," said athletics director Jim Donovan. "I'm hopeful this vote of confidence in Bob's leadership and abilities will translate into the winning season we all want to happen. We structured the contract to provide Bob incentives for an 18-win season, a postseason appearance - or in a best case scenario, both." Nash has compiled a 24-36 record in two seasons at the school. "Today's actions keep the program moving in a very positive direction as far as recruiting," said Nash. "I think recruits will understand the commitment the department is making to ensure our program is stable and given the resources to succeed. I'm very thankful for that."
