POSTED: 4:59 pm HST March 4, 2009

(Sports Network) - Ricky Harris knocked down 5-of-8 three-pointers and finished with 19 points, leading the Massachusetts Minutemen to a 77-62 win over the George Washington Colonials in a pivotal Atlantic 10 matchup at the Mullins Center.

Chris Lowe scored 14 points and dished out eight assists for the Minutemen (11-17, 6-9 A-10), who entered the game needing a win to qualify for the upcoming A-10 tourney. Anthony Gurley added 12 points off the bench, while Tony Gaffney had 11 points and 10 rebounds in the win.

Rob Diggs led all scorers with 22 points and also pulled down nine rebounds for GW (10-17, 4-11). Damian Hollis tallied 12 points and nine boards in the loss, while Aaron Ware scored 11 off the bench.

GW led by as many as six late in the first half, and the Colonials would take a 36-33 lead at the break after holding UMass to 35.5-percent shooting from the floor in the opening period.

But the Minutemen wouldn't be held down for long, as they went on to shoot a sizzling 55.6 percent from the floor in the second half, including a 6-of-13 effort from beyond the arc.

The Minutemen committed only nine turnovers in the game, as they held a key 22-8 edge in points off turnovers.
