Iowa City, IA -- (Sports Network) - Bill Clark's three-pointer with 12 seconds to play proved to be the difference as he pushed the Duquesne Dukes to a thrilling 52-50 win over the Iowa Hawkeyes in a preliminary round game of the O'Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic. Clark accounted for a game-high 20 points on 4-of-12 shooting behind the three-point line for the Dukes (2-0). Damian Saunders registered a double- double with 16 points and a game-high 16 rebounds, adding three blocked shots and six steals for the winners before fouling out. The Hawkeyes (0-2) were paced by Anthony Tucker who dropped in 16 points on 6- of-15 shooting from the floor. Although he made just 2-of-12 shots from the field, Matt Gatens chipped in nine points and a team-best eight rebounds in the setback. Duquesne erupted with 51.9 percent shooting from the field in the first half, allowing the squad to claim a 33-25 lead at the break. In the second half the Dukes made a total of just seven field goals as both teams struggled on offense. In the final minutes Brennan Cougill hit a layup and then converted the subsequent free throw after being fouled by Saunders, giving Iowa a slim 50-49 edge before Clark hit the game winner. The Dukes survived despite shooting a mere 2-of-9 at the free-throw line and turning the ball over 16 times on the night.
