NCAA Game Summary - The Citadel At Old Dominion

Norfolk, VA -- (Sports Network) - Keyon Carter came off the bench and turned in 17 points and nine boards to guide the Old Dominion Monarchs past The Citadel Bulldogs, 67-59, in the first round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament at the Ted Constant Convocation Center. Darius James posted 13 points and eight assists for ODU (22-10), which will host Belmont in the quarterfinal round on Monday. Demetrius Nelson paced the Bulldogs (20-13) in the loss with a game-high 25 points and seven rebounds. Cameron Wells netted 13 points, and Zach Urbanus had 10 and four helpers in the defeat. The Monarchs led at the half, 33-24, as they shot 40.6 percent from the floor, including 3-of-8 from long range, in the opening period. The Citadel fought back in the second half and grabbed a 48-47 lead with 8:34 left. ODU, however, responded with a 10-0 spurt to seize control and come away with the eight-point victory. With the outcome, ODU head coach Blaine Taylor reached the 300-win plateau for his career. The only other matchup between the two teams took place during the 1966-67 campaign, and the game was claimed by the Monarchs, 78-70.
